Packers Sanitation Services Inc., (PSSI) is a privately held company that specializes in cleaning food processing facilities across the US. The bulk of our business is in cleaning meat and poultry processing facilities. Currently PSSI cleans and sanitizes over 150 different nationwide locations every night. Our client list includes most of the major food processing companies in the nation including: Tyson; Pilgrim's Pride; Smithfield; Farmland Foods JBS-SA Swift; Cargill Meat Solutions; Butterball and many other national companies. Our clients rely on us to ensure that their plant is properly cleaned and sanitized each night and that the plant starts on time each morning.

PSSI has been in business since 1970 and it has both grown and been profitable every year since its inception. We are currently looking for management trainees to help us run and grow our business. This opportunity will give the trainees exposure to virtually every facet of running a small business.




Site Manager Job Description

Each individual location is operated like a small business with its own budget, P & L, management team and hourly work force. The site manager at each location is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities at each location and ensuring that we provide the services necessary to keep our customers happy. Job responsibilities for the site manager include:

  • Directing and maintaining a crew to get the plant cleaned and sanitized
  • Ensuring that the crew works safely and effectively
  • Hiring and training new crew members
  • Maintaining our food safety program and records
  • Keeping track of employee hours for payroll purposes
  • Maintaining an adequate inventory of chemicals and supplies
  • Providing the day-to-day contact for PSSI with our clients including:
    • Client Management
    • Client Quality Assurance
    • Client Maintenance
    • USDA Inspectors
    • Third Party Auditors

Employee Safety Coordinator Job Description

The employee safety department is a group of individuals that are responsible for focusing on employee safety in the plants in their geographical area. Each Employee Safety Coordinator works with 10-20 of our contracts and works with the local operations management and employees to ensure the safety of our employees. Normal duties of the Safety Coordinators includes:

  • Writing and maintaining Lock Out Tag Out procedures
  • Monitoring and maintaining our Hearing Conservation Program
  • Monitoring and maintaining our Hazardous Communication Program
  • Monitoring and maintaining our Fall Protection Program
  • Monitoring and maintaining our Confined Space Program
  • Monitoring and maintaining our Powered Industrial Truck (forklift) training program
  • Staying current on all OSHA and Client rules and regulations pertaining to safety in our accounts
  • Providing support during OSHA investigations and site visits
  • Investigating accidents and helping with follow up to get injured employees back to work
  • Performing quarterly snapshot audits designed to monitor employee safety




Food Safety Coordinator Job Description

The Food Safety department is a group of individuals that are responsible for focusing on food safety and quality issues in the plants within their geographical area. Each food safety coordinator is responsible for the food safety programs in 10-20 accounts and works with both PSSI and client management and the USDA to ensure that we are working within the established GMP and food safety parameters. Normal duties of the Food Safety Coordinators include:

  • Writing and maintaining cleaning procedure manuals
  • Writing and maintaining master sanitation schedules
  • Troubleshooting microbiological hot spots
  • Working with client Quality Assurance and HACCP teams
  • Performing and documenting snapshot audits designed to monitor Food Safety issues
  • Working with and attending 3rd Party client audits
